Default 929 Shorty Exhaust

Fellow 929'ers. Some guy posted his Erion 929 on Youtube. He's got a pretty cool Erion shorty exhaust. Looks nice on the video and sound ok as well. I trying to contact the guy to ask him where he got the can, but he hasn't responded yet. The more I look at the video, I'm wondering if he just cut his can and retuned the bike. You guys have any thoughts???

Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ia_ILulhWmU If the link doesn't work, the title of the video is "My Honda CBR 929".

I chopped mine myself. Scraped up the back prett bad in my crash, so had to cut and sand the back part of the exhaust output. It had a pretty bad dent on the top of the can, so cut it a bit before the dent and straightened it back out. I'm in the process of rebuilding it as a stunter now.

Used a burley metal chop saw to cut it to length. Then pulled out the metal mesh core, cut that to shape, welded it back together, and re-inserted. Had to mod it a bit to make it fit back together correctly. Took 2 hours in a good shop all said and done. Re riveted the bracket, and was good to go.

Took off 7" total. Pipe went from 16" to 11".

Hope that helps.

Hope that helps.

Don't have a PCIII on it yet. So no way to tune it anyways. But no, haven't even cranked the bike over in 4 months. Tank is off again and working on bondo and sanding... I want it smooooooth.

In the next couple of weeks I'll be done, and will know then. I imagine just a bit louder than before, but don't really expect any performance problems from it.

Can't wait to find out how it handles.

Back when I had an CBR 600F2, I took out the packing on my D&D pipe. It was loud as hell, but was sluggish on the lower end. I had to crank up the RPM's just to keep it from bogging or cutting off in neutral.

Taking the inside out of a D&D?...I wonder if that going to be loud...I have a D&D on mine and it's F***ing loud as hell! Good luck with the shorty if you do it, if it works out then put a clip up for sure...have fun with it either way!!!

Yea, it was a waaaaay too loud. Guys hated riding next to me and I brought too much attention to the group. It was novelty fun, but not for long rides. I ended up putting the packing back in.

Someone was telling me if you cut down the pipe it messes with the back pressure, and kills valves.......true??/

I cut my carbon 2 brothers down two days ago. You should always keep the packing in. so I just bought new packing and repacked it. I marked off 6 inches all the way around and ran it through a bandsaw. just make sure you have the baffle lined up before you slide it back on. mine did not want to go on because the baffle was off center alittle. wear a long sleeve shirt and gloves that fiberglass packing is ****ty. I sprayed mine with a little water after I saw it flying all through the air.
