2001 CBR 929RR VS. 2006 ninja zx6r
tell you what, if you were to jump on like a new R6 you would feel NOTHING til you get to the upper RPM's. They are like a slug off the line. Our 929's have sooo much more torque. But that new R6 has just about as much as we do top end. It feels like a freekin turbo kickin in. I didn't expect it when I rode my friend's. It isn't bad for a 6
The torque is very impressive on the 929. My friend has an 05 R1 AND IT dynoed at 150 at the wheel. My 929 made 132. I am pretty proud of that. I wish I could WOT it in first. I have had mine for a year now and I still cant. it comes up as I roll on the gas. I bought a drag racing strap for the front end I will try that to see how it helps. my friend had a 600rr (now has a zx-10R) and we raced and I am better on the clutch and take off and I pulled off the line but he passed me as my front end came up and I shifted to 2nd and the front end came back up and stayed up and I passed him doing about 100mph while holding the wheelie then i shifted to third and smoked him but I was impressed as to how well the 600 kept up if wasnt till the 3rd on up that I really pulled on him. alot of 600s will hold their own til about 110-120 then thes torque monstors tear'em up.
I ran with a 06 R6 the other night and I had him hand's down up to 120 but after that he passed me and then pulled away up to 155, but there is a 80 lbs diff in riders and a 30-40 lbs diff in bike, oh that night i ordered a PC III I hope that will do the trick.
Im not tryin to be a dick but who cares if someone has a faster bike. There is a kid at my work who got screwed so hard on a 600 (ever heard of someone paying $14,386 for an 06 zzr 600) and he thinks he has something to prove and because he is paying three times as much that his bike must be faster than a $14,000 bike. Maybe Im just different. If I were going to buy a bike for the first time I may want to know if the 600's keep up with or beat the 929 or what ever I was considering to buy but if and since I already own one I wouldn't ask. alot of new 600's are pretty fast they have 5-6 years of more technology in them then a 929. I wouldnt want to hear that the new 6's are kicking are *** because alot of squids buy a 600 and dont know how to ride. I've beaten many bigger bikes on my 600. Rider makes a huge difference. I know there are alot of bikes out there that will beat a 929 but the 929s will hold there own with many new bikes and plenty fast enough to get you killed in a hurry. they are kinda heavy but will hold up with an R1, 1000RR respectably. JUst ride it and enjoy it. Im just content with my 929 they are very dependable, handles like its on rails, stops good and has the biggest trunk space i have ever seen on a bike. They will last a long time. has alot of things going for it. I would never sell my 929 for a 600 but would definately get a 600 in addition to the 929.
Agreed. Anything, 600's 929's 1000's whatever, that'll do a quarter mile around 10 seconds, or 0-60 in 3 or 4 seconds - man that's some machine.
It's the same kind of conversations all the time in my line of work - I'm a corporate jet mechanic, and guys are always making fun of Cessna Citations cause they're "so slow", meaning they can't quite keep up with the big boys.
But I always tell em, "Listen man, even the Citation goes rippin down the runway , take off after a 3000 foot roll at 150 mph, climbs to 40,000 feet and cruises over 400 mph - that's some piece of equipment, and anybody outta be proud to fly or work on one."
Same thought here as far as I'm concerned. Anybody with a modern sportbike in the garage - you got a machine to be proud of.
Do I ever shut up.....? WAKE UP, you guys, I'm TALKIN' here !!! LOL

I think that perhaps you are being a little too harsh on us. We are just talking about a topic that we are interested in. Nobody said that we weren't content with our bikes. But I also don't think there is anything WRONG with us wanting them to go faster. It's called speed addiction... I'm suffering from it as well as most of the other guys on this topic. lol
I hear ya, weeble1 - as usual I didn't make my point very well.
I definitely don't knock any body for wanting a little more speed - we all sorta showed our need for speed when we bought bikes of this type, didn't we?
Nothin wrong with speed, bro. As far as I'm concerned, our speed is what keeps us alive - I found that out right quick after buying this bike. I find I can get myself out of most trouble with a twist of the wrist.
