Default 2000 Model question, and my bike!

Whats the deal with the 2000 model 900/929. I recently got a (according to my title) 2000 900RR. From what I hear, it's actually a 929 model? Pre 2000 900's where non fuel injected? I get confused when ordering parts because alot of sites dont list parts for a 2000 900, but tons for a 929. I made the mistake and got a 929 link and apparently its the wrong one someone told me. I'm not sure of him being smart enough to be right, so I'm going to double check to see if it would fit on my bike. Heres what i ordered

Heres some shots of my bike

yeah you have a 929 and that link will fit, I have one on my 929 as well. I got mine for $75 buck from PPG.

now for future reference from what I hear, exhaust for 929/954 are the same, powercommander will work(i have a 954 on mine), lowering links, and some other junk! lol

don't get anything that's for a cbr 900 its a different animal.

oh and welcome to my second home!

its the right link for your cbr 929 so that should answer both of your questions!

reguardless of what's on your title, you have a cbr 929 and only order part for the 929 or if it is listed 929/954 like the factory pro velocity stacks!

I got my link from PPG for $75 bucks hope you didn't get raped harder, I've seen some for $50ish

Alright cool, thanks for clearing that up. Caus I need a new windscreen since mine was cut off from the prev owner. I ordered one and it didnt fit, i was going to return it but some idiot broke it :[ I don't recall if i ordered it for a 900 tho. I'll be sure to get one for a 929 now. And i'll get those links installed!

I believe the formal Honda model number doesn't actually have "929" in it which maybe part of the confusion as printed on your title. Someone may correct me here but I think CBR 900 RRY is a 2000-929 and a CBR900 RR1 is a 2001-929.

now you said you need to get thhose links installed, I saw you had 2 links in the picture, you only need one!

it goes in the center not on either side like some bikes and I would suggest you use the center hole which make the bike plenty low, my wife is 5foot tall and can flat foot my 9!

the other thing is I suggest you do some research here on this forum to save yourself time and money in the future!

the official designation for the 929 and 954 are both "cbr900rr" .. honda didn't go to cbr1000rr until '04 .. though all the plastic work in north america says "cbr929rr" .. confusing, ain't it?
