I disagree about the steering dampner if you are riding that hard on the street then you belong on the track.
I have been riding my 01 929 for 5 years and I am a fairly aggressive rider. Never have I experience a tank slapper and the only time I got a bobble was the front tire came up while in the middle of a lane change. Even then it bobbled about three times and that was it.

what exactly is a tank slapper?

a tank slapper
a tank slapper
a tankslapper is bad head shake that is usually tough to control. your bars shake violently from lock to lock (as far as they can turn). this will commonly happen when coming down from a wheelie improperly.
to elaborate on what calkidd wrote: if you ride the track, a damper is a MUST. for the times when you ride on the street and throw the bike around some twisties, a damper is a good idea. I don't ride like an ******* on the street but I'm damn sure aggressive and I wheelie from time to time so a damper is a must for me. I haven't had a tankslapper but Ive had headshake pretty often. usually when I'm aggressively on the gas.
but he is right in saying you don't need one if you're going to ride gingerly.
