01 929 wont charge new battery

Default 01 929 wont charge new battery

day after i put the new battery in its dead what do i check and what can i do to fix it pls help

first, verify it's not charging. check running voltage across the battery @4000 rpm or so. should be 13.5v to 14.5v.
if bad, unplug the stator and check for continuity on each terminal to ground. should be none. there should be continuity between the terminals.
if all good, replace the regulator. regulators are very common.

if stator is bad, replace it and seriously consider replacing the regulator too.

stators are about $250, regulators are about $150.

did you test the voltage? dont forget to check the connections and fuses.

so it wont charge unless im running 7k on the tach

take it to 4k. they dont charge at idle.

ok checked the stator its fine but the rectifier is not sending power past it at all and if the rectifier goes bad would it cause the connector to short out and melt
