YOU are a CBR 900rr....
Somehow, through the powers of imagination, you have been transformed into a Honda CBR 900rr (You pick the year).
One day your owner decides he wants to sell you and get a newer, faster, better handling/braking sportbike. [&o]
You overhear him talking to a friend about why he wants a newer and in his mind "better" bike.
Somehow, you alsodevelop the ability to speak.
What would you say to your owner to convince him you are worthyand are in many ways BETTER thana newer, more modern sportbike?

your very imaginative wallet, my bike would say:
"Why you double crossing son of a bitch! After all I've done for you, after all the abuse, the high speed straight aways, power wheelies, and endless miles of flawless service. YOu would leave me for a younger, slimmer, faster bike? Will it have the class that I do? The old fashioned good looks? What about my ergos, will it have the comfort ease of operation. Sure, maybe your new ride will be faster, and stop harder, and maybe it will even take the turns better than I do, but it won't be a classic, it won't be something thats timeless and good looking. And it won't be the bike that started it all, the bike that coined the term "superbike". I'm the oringinal, and even after more than a decade I can still hang with the new younger breed. Go ahead and leave me if you want, just let me move on to someone who will really appreciate my curves and amazing torque curve, see if I care. We both know your just stepping up to make up for your shortcomings, it takes a real man to handle me and squeeze everything that I can give out of me. And if you were man enough to do that then you wouldn't need a newer bike, you would be leaving them all in the dust. You want to have what everyone else has, or do you want to be unique and own the original?"

900fighterRR that was awesome!!!!!!
Yes, if I were a 900rr I would have probably said the same thing or something close to it.
I would also add the following:
"Ok, so you finally decided to get that Hayabusa or R1 or R6or GSXR750 or 1000, huh?
No problem. Just remember this, the next time you are riding your shiny new bike and your back starts to ache and your wrists start to go numb.....because of the extreme riding position of your "newer" and "better" sportbike, it was your choice to let go of one of the most comfortable sportibikes ever made.
Also, remember the next time you are on a cruise on your new sportbike and see a hundred other bikes of the exact same model and color as yours, don't come crying to me!
You had something that turned heads, that was different and that was extremely rare and becoming even rarer by the day!"

it goes without saying that its always fine to upgrade to another, newer CBR. The newer 1000's and the 954's are just awesome.

thanks guys, I haven't written anything like that since high school English class. I guess we are more than just a bunch of gear heads. Maybe we should get together at a cafe' and have CBR poetry hour?......Ha, just kidding. This is a really cool thread, and you hit the nail right on the head Wallet when you pointed out how your going to be a mirror image of everyone else on the road today. I pull up to some places and people have no idea what kind of bike I am riding. Granted there is no badging, but still, its just got a look that is totally unique and great from any angle. The oversized tank alone usually just gets people shaking their head. Save your money (thousands for a new bike) and add a few go fast parts and enjoy kickin *** with a bike thats more than a decade old. Resist keeping up with the Joneses and polish your skills on a bike that will never limit you, short of open track racing. Nothing beats a CBR! And I don't have to remind any of you that we all rule for owning one, and keeping these classics on the road. Take it easy fellas.
