I guess there are three major generations. The 92-95, 96-97 and the 98-99. If thats not right feel free to correct me. I'm assuming the latest generation is the best or are there some advantages to the earlier ones? Or are they all pretty much the same? Please list your favorite year and reasons why, even if its something as trivial as color scheme.

Only outside the U.S. will you find official 1992 model 900RR's. Here in the colonies you could buy a '93 in early 1992--but it doesn't really matter. And of the three families, '95 is kind of the slutty step-sister with just about as many parts from 93-94 as it does 96-97. Generally though, almost everything will interchange between 93-97. Very little from 98-99 carried over from previous models. Honda designated only two families if you look at the serial number code in your VIN: SC28 for 93-95, SC33 for 96-99. Elsewhere in the world, '92 is referred to as RRN, '93 is RRP, '94 and '95 are RRR and RRS, '96 and '97 are RRT and RRV, while '98 and '99 are RRW and RRX.

Now that you're totally confused, my personal favorites (on appearance only) are both original U.S. 1993 versions and any color from 1998 (red, yellow, or black, all gorgeous).

 

Basically improvements had been made in all aspects (displacement, weight, fuel system & etc) from the first model till the 99 model.

The bestIsupposed to be the latest model but still it depends on personal choices....
