Weird sound...

Default Weird sound...

Hi, i wonder if anyone can help or explain what happened to my 98'RR.
sometimes on idle when i rev up the engine, and let the throttle go... there will be rough sound in the engine like... KRRRRRRRRRRR....and then it disappear after a while and engine sounds smooth again. Then rev up again, and that sound is back....then disappear again...

Sounds like the cam chain tensioner is failing and that sound is cam chain rattle because it's too loose.

I know this of the 600's and it shouldn't be much different for the 900's.

If that is the problem, look at the manual APE brand CCT's on ebay.

They're cheap and never fail like the stock automatics do.

Hi f3biker, thanks for the info...i'm consulting with my mechanic and he said that might be the problem as well. He'll try to adjust/tighten the CCT first and see if it works. If not, then i guess i have to look for the APE brand that you advised me...

Hi, anybody knows if CCT from '97 is the same with '98?
I saw the part#, and it's different but the chain is same.
