I've got a '94 900RR and I'm about to get a new exhaust but while looking the bike over I started thinking of re-working the system and have the can go under the seat/tail and out by the tail lights. Seems like the tail section is big enough for this, if I remove the trunk but I'm not sure if it's even possible to re-route the pipe that way. Any thoughts? Anyone done this before?

 

Yes it can be done. I saw in another forum a company sells the kit, but the guy had to fabricate some items and was very unhappy with money spent on it. It did look good in the pictures and it was dual pipe out the rear. somebody else fabricated one and it looked good.

Yes you can as a matter of fact I almost did it but I lovves me some trunk space.

you have to jetcoat or wrap the pipe by the rear shock

 

I have a 600 F3 with undertail exhaust. I have seen plenty of 900's with undertail exhaust. Some owners that do this mod run the pipes up from the mid pipe along the outside of the swingarm. I have seen bikes that run the pipe on the inside between the swingarm similar to the CB600 and CB900. The 900RR is perfect for this method of running the pipes because their is plenty of space available. So check it out. Here are some example picture of a 600 F2 along with some other models, and I am sure you can set up your 900RR the same way. I would use this method in conjunction with finding a cheap set of pipes on ebay.

If you have any old issues of TWO WHEEL TUNER laying around check out the NOV 07 issue. Inside you will see a yellow custom 1993 CBR 900 RR with a custom undertail exhaust. If I had a scanner I would scan the image but I don't sorry.

I have an wolf undertail exhaust system on my 29 and love it, sounds down right NASTY!!!!!They don't come cheep, unless you do one up yourself, or know someone with a pipe bender and can do some tack welding until you have it up and then weld it up grind it down and send it for coating or chroming.....

+1 from Ghusar as he said you will need to do some coating under the tail.

i looked on that wolf exhaust and i couldnt find the undertail kit for the 93 or 97 year 900rr maybe i wasent looking hard enough or just plain couldnt work the site but any details about the prices and where exactly to find it that would be great. thanks.
