Total Newbee with some ?'s
If I could ask for some knowledge from 900RR riders.
I have ridden many different type bikes, but not a sport bike.
I have past the age of 45, but not reach 50, so maybe this is a mid life thing.
Anyways, I would like to give this a go and see if this something I like or not.
I found this 1998 CBR at a Harley Dealer for $3995
So my questions are;
Is this a fair price - KBB lists it at $2680?
What should I look for?
Any known issues for the '98?
Here are some facts and pictures;
Color: Red
Engine: 4 CYL
Trans: Manual 5 Speed
Mileage: 34,049
VIN: JH2SC3308WM200453
Stock #: P1449A
TAMPA HARLEY DAVIDSON GROUP | USED 1998 HONDA CBR900RR | TAMPA / ST PETE, FLORIDA | Stock: P1449A
Thanks

For the mileage at 32XXX plus....sounds high, even if bike is in mint condition. Never drop...minimum mods.....That's asking 4 grand.....I'll say below $3500, between $3000-$3500 if never drop, no dents on tank....mint cond. garaged....

What he said. In addition to that, it should be a 6-speed, not a 5-speed. I would drive it to make sure all of the gears are there. It would also help if you could snap a few pictures of it.

I added the link at the bottom of the OP and it has 19 pictures of the bike

I'm sure Harley does not have Honda parts in their stockrooms.
I do think they are trying to get top $$$$ for this bike.

If it's cherry, has been dealer serviced and you really like it, try negotiating.
Doubt they have that much invested in a trade-in.
But you can't blame them for trying to maximize their profit.
After all, you can never up-sell from the asking price.
Do the local craiglist, ebay, etc. copy a couple of the similar ads, that are more in
keeping with your target price. Take those in and point out what else is readily
available. It's worth your time, both as a means of covering all of the potential
buying market and as a negotiation tool, with whomever you end up buying from.
