Throttle question
Just curious about the throttle or throttle tube. Is it supposed to spring back if you accelerate and let it go? If I hold my throttle open it will stay open. Is it supposed to do that? If not do I need to replace the throttle tube, cable, or some kinda spring?
It's supposed to snap right back. Might be something as simple as the grip is too close to the switch. Slide it out a little bit and see if it makes a difference. If not it could be anything from a broken return cable to them just being dirty.
lube your cables really well and you might want to diassemble your throttle and see if the end of your calbe is binding in any way in the throttle grip. Also your carbs have bearing that a central shaft runs through that all the butterflies attach to. The bearing will get washed out by gas over time and mey not be as smooth as you want them to be anymore. YOu can use a little WD40 in each and you will see that your throttle pull will be easier and smoother. Fix this issue right away because you do not want you bike to be stuff in WOT at any point...EVER. Good luck and have a good one.
they also make some cable lube specifically meant for bike cables so look that up (should be in your local honda dealer) but dont forget to get down to the carbs and snap the carbs a few times to make sure it isnt them.
Ok so I was checking out the throttle, I took it all apart to see if the cables were broke by the clip on, and noticed that if I moved the tube down the clip on, it moved freely. Sure enough, bent clip on lol. Thanks for all the input!
