Think this will work?
I want to hook up a ram air fixture to my airbox on my 98 900rr the air box already has 2 tube openings (one on each side of the airbox)so if i hook up 2 tubes lets say similar to vaccum hoses to a scoop that mounts under the front cowl similar to that of a zx-12r would it increase hp or what kind of problems could i encounter by doing this? Your motors gonna lean out cause now your forcing air into the motor, and unlike F.I. bikes your carbs wont adjust the fuel to accomodate the extra air your ramming in there...it can be done...but you really need to know the formulas and other hardcore gearhead crap that will at least get you into the ballpark of an idea as how to make it work.

Dude your talking to someone who has tried this before.0do you mean to tell me that when your going down the road at highway speeds your not forcing air down those tubes? That's why the pick up tubes are nestled right behind the steering head. So they take in rather still air and the airbox has two chambers with a baffle in between to calm any spikes in air pressure in the box. You can not tell me that by running two tubes to the front of a bike, where air resistance and pressure are at the highest levels is not going to raise air pressure in the air box. A ram air system like this will not work on the 900rr. Fuel injected bikes have air mass sensors which pick up changes in air volume/pressure and adjust fuel output at the injectors accordingly.

I doubt highly that it is worth the effort you are going to put into it. Unless you are riding at ludicrous speeds all the time.....you wont even know it's there. You might gain what?........2hp at full whack? Below 100 you likely wont gain ****. While the colder air is a welcome power maker.......it needs to be seeled tight to work properly. Will it work? Probably, but again.......it'll be so little it's not worth it. On top of that.....you're going to screw up the air flow into the carbs by adding something that shouldnt be there. That is how throttle tube lenght works........it changes how the air flows into the carbs by varying length.......changing the way air flows inside the box is a sure fire way to cause problems at speed. If you get any buffeting in the box and disturb the air flow.....it's going to change the atomization process with fuel and will simply be a head ache to get right again.
I'd say spend your time on something else before wasting it on that.

LOL.......I'm not trying to burst your bubble man........If you want to try it by all means........give it a shot and report back.
I'm just thinking that once you start changing carb throat pressure vs float bowl pressure, you'll either get it right and it'll run great or get it horribly wrong and it'll run like absolute garbage.
Sorry man.......that's how she goes sometimes. LOL
