Default Suspension setup help

I am thinking about getting all new suspension for my bike. I was going to get the ohlins shock for the rear. I think the only offer one for a 98 cbr900rr. I was gonna jsut get a heavier spring set for the front. I wiegh about 250lb. Does anyone have any suggestions on this. I think the spring ohlins offers is like 250mm. I really dont know a whole lot about this. I just wanted my bikemore suitable for my weight. Thanks yall for your help.

I'm assuming you've adjusted the suspension already to your weight? You might just need to add fluid to the front. You could also consider the shock off a 929/954 or even a GSXR750 (03 or older). Search the board for back threads about this. I know I read it somewhere.

My 96 has a gsxr 750 frontend but I bought it that way. It's suppose to be lighter and fully adjustable, the only thing I see didn't work was the ignition and the forks are wider apart bringing the handle bars closer to the frame. There was no mods to the frame or triple tree. They just used everything off a gsxr. Johnny

You're best bet if you don't ride track its just to have the front and rear rebuilt with the proper valving and new fluids in them. Not to mention I believe racetek can get you stiffer springs as well as the better valves. Ohlins are great shocks but if you don't take it to the track you not going to get your money's worth.

To add to what Triax said, you not only want to replace your valves but your springs too. At your weight, your springs are not stiff enough for you. Changing the valving wouldn't help anything, you have to change the springs too.

As far as putting on a suspension from another bike, that doesn't make sense as those springs won't be stiff enough either. You'd still have the same problem.
