Stay Cowl (upper) removal/replace

Id like to get rid of that ugly metal bracket that holds up your windsheild and mirrors. anyone had luck with fabricating something for it?

I kind of like it. It's different. Just like the 91 zx7r had the hoses going into the tank. I thought that was the coolest looking bike back then.
