starting in neutral only.....

just a curious question, I have a 94 900rr, can only start the bike in neutral with kickstand down and clutch engaged....wanted to know if thats how these CBRs operate...cuz my old FZR I could start the bike in any gear as long as the clutch was engaged with or without kickstand

You'll never be able to start it in gear with the bikes kick stand down. NEVER! But if it is up and in gear and nothing then check your plugs at the clutch cable.

Disconnect the kickstand killswitch & splice the wires together, worked for me

what plugs? is there a certain thing/contact that engages when I squeeze clutch to start engine no matter what gear?

No, there is no "clutch engaged" switch. That lever position has no bearing on whether the engine will turn over. You've got a bad kickstand position switch or something in that line of "electrics"

Annoying at first, cause I wasn't used to it. But, once you get used to it no big deal. Gotta say, don't miss not being able to do, the left hand turn pogo. lol

Dont cut those wires at the controls..you'll never find those butt-connectors to replace the ones you cut. Look at your gauge cluster. See the light that says kickstand? It's a safety feature that prevents you from riding with the stand down. A guy I know had his stand fall down due to a weak spring and it hurt him bad :(

Safety 1st. They made it that way on purpose. If your in gear and accidently hit the start button, therre goes your buke to the ground if your not sitting on it.
