I installed a brand new and the rectifier started and lasted me 3 months.
I purchased another & I noticed it getting hot

checked the followind voltages:
input 12-15Vac @ idle & 75-80 VAC @ 5k rpm

A honda tech once told me that just replacing the regulator/rectifier...and even the stator alone may not solve the problem.

You may also need to change the connecting wires/connectors too.

I had to replace the connecting plug rectifier so I cut all the damaged wire & spliced in a new one.

I concur with checking the underseat stator/wiring harness plug. Mine was burned & melted from massive resistance and corrosion. Replacing/soldering new bullet style automotive weatherproof style connectors in place of the old Honda connector solved my issue once I realized the reg/rec wasn't the only issue.
