Default RE: Refilling fork oil

Hi guys, i have a 99 CBR900RR for which i have just changed the fork seals. Need to refill the fork oil. can anyone tell me the type of oil I should put in and the quantity and the basis for measuiring it? Plus how best to avoid quick wear and tear of the seal? (Does doing constant wheelies factor in?)

YEAH!!!!!! I think wheelies have something to do with your seals being blown

I do not know what oil to use, but I do know that wheelies are detrimental to your forks. They can also break mounting hardware for your plastic body pieces as well. If you like them, do them, but be prepared for the maintenance costs associated with it.

Just pick up fork oil at your local shop, they know what to give you. I just did this job myself, oh so fun to tear forks apart! You'll need 2 quarts, you'll use most of it.

If you dont feel like spending the 10 bucks a quart for fork oil, use ATF, its a 15W the fork oil is a 10W, the difference-Fork oil is a nonFoaming oil if you do race the ATF will get stiffer because it will bubble a bit when it gets REALLY HOTT,in regular street aplication"s ATF is perfectly Fine just dont be hitting the Dirt jumps consistantly. You can use the bottle to measure the fork oil, i wanna say its like 18Oz but check the manual for an exact measurement. Also use a small strip of paper to measure from the top of the fork to the oil 4.5inches is where the oil should hit.I use ATF in my front fork"s for regualr riding, you might wanna use it for stunting to cause you wont bottom out them forks as easily.
