Ok let me hear it, what's the thought on the RC51s. Any of you had the pleasure of riding one?

 

I have not ridden one, but passed plenty of them at the track. It doesnt seem to comfy, just by looking at it, but most supersports arent that great anyway. It's a twin with 115hp or so at the rear tire. Nice to look at. Probably handles decent. Still, no match for a good running 600 at the track. It's heavy. I dont know what to think about it. It's kind of a cult bike. Some people like em, some dont. It's no Duc. Id get the Aprillia, although it cost more.

I owned one (rc51 sp1) was not real great for long trips, but I don't what to say about it other than it was a fun bike.
I crashed it, but it handled pretty good and went good around a track but was a strange streetbike. Maybe I'M not a twins
person but it never seemed to have the great kick I like when riding a bike. I had an cbr600f4 at the same time and
preffered it over the rc. I do like how narrow it was, but was hard to work on in ways the cbr was not. I also have 2 cbr
1000fs one for riding to and from work and one set up as a drag bike. I like them better than the rc as they are both better
bikes imho. But I really liked the looks and the grunt then rush of the rc it had a great powerband and kinda wish I would
not have parted it out, but fixed it back up. I have ridden my buddies cbr1000rr and another buddies cbr1100xx and they
are both better bikes to me, than the rc was, and would love to own either, but can't justify either of them at this time.
They are a good track bike but so is an 900rr,929, 954 and 1000rr with alot more affordable hi performance parts available.
I liked the cbr600f2+ for a 1 up rider and occassional track bike a lot, and a cheap f2/f3 or good f4/f4i can't be beat for the
fun factor or confidence they give you. For an all around Honda street bike or sport touring bike the cbr1100xx is king to me.

What purpose do you want it for?

Rc-51's rock. They are about as fast as a good GSXR750, maybe a little more, corner like they are on rails and have a great chassis for track days/racing. I raced one in WERA a little bit and did tons of tracks on one. I love them. You do have to ride them differently than a inline bike, keep it in the torque and steer with the rear. Stock they are heavy but you can lose 40lbs with a single side exhaust and remove the airbox. The brakes are outstanding.

Not a good commuter or tour bike obviously, but they are the **** for riding hard.

 

That's my next bike. I used to work for Dan Kyle, and I saw a bunch of really bitchin' ones.
