MT, All carburated vehicles will come with a choke. I guess it should be near your left handle. Will be quite supsrised if its not there.

unless someone removed it or it was broken off it's supposed to be on the left side just behind the high low headlight switch(looks like a button) just pull it up. they usually say choke right on the top of the button, it may have rubbed off.

Ha ha ha, I had the same issue on a bike I bought a couple months ago. The cables break off really easily. You can get a new choke cable for less than $20, either online or from a dealership. If you pull off the tank and airbox, then flip up the little rubber cover there is a slide on the right side of the carbs. Part of your old cable is probably attached to it. Then the cable runs under the rubber flap on the right side and comes out behind the triple. It attatches to a little C shaped bracket on the left side of the triple.

Wow I had no idea!

I gotta go look at the bike again, once it comes back from the shop.

My past bikes all had the slide lever type of choke.

THanks everyone [&:]

I just did a search on google for pictures of the choke lever and I gotta say I don't think my bike has a choke!

Is it possible to remove it? And if so, why would someone do that?

I am the 5th or 6th owner of this bike btw...and it is heavily modded. Would the modders have taken the choke out for some reason?

It's not a lever, it's a push pull button. Looks exactly like the one here:

Very possible that someone took it off, the previous owner of my bike did all kinds of hillbilly sh**t like that. Even if they took it off there is still a slide on your carbs for it, prob still a bracket up on the triples to hold the other end, too. Even if your bike starts without it, it is nice to have for easier starting on cold mornings. And before I replaced mine I was constantly jacking with the idle set **** to get it to idle when it was cold, and now I don't have to.

Thanks MI900RR,

Yes, I think my bike is like yours. The push button is missing. I was scratching my head trying to find it when I first bought the bike.

Thanks for the link too

I'm very suprised that your bike didn't need a choke to start all this while. I guess your carb fuel needle will be quite high indeed. Does she galloping alot of fuel?

It does have trouble starting when it's cold or hasn't been started for over a week.

Thanks for the advice
