Please Help!! Not firing on all 4 cylinders
Hey all, I just bought a 93' CBR 900RR. It is in pretty good condition, but is not running right now. I know the previous owner replaced the spark plugs and tried a different coil on the outside 2 cylinders that arent firing. I was just posting to see if anybody had some ideas. I have a manual and am working on the troubleshooting. But looking for some ideas from other people. Battery is good and all lights work. Will turn over but wont start up. Previous owner told me that he wasn't getting a spark on the two outside plugs. I am hoping it is not the ICM cuz those suckers are spendy.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Jon

RE: Please Help!! Not firing on all 4 cylinders
It has carbs and no I haven't checked personally yet. He said that he could get it running, but just on 2 cylinders (inside 2). I did take off the air filter last night and it is pretty dirty!! Also, it looks as though a previous owner had drilled a bunch and I mean a bunch of holes in the air filter box top. They have since been taped over with duck tape. Kinda ghetto, but didn't think it was a major deal since it was running fine before. I also unfortunately drained the battery last night and am hoping to get a battery tender plus this weekend. It's kinda hard to work on something when it isn't running and you can't hear first hand what is going on. He also said that he had replaced the regulator once already, but that could have gone bad again. Also upon looking at it last night it looks as though the harness for ICM is really loose and kinda shotty looking.
Any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

OK, just looked in my Haynes Manual and you might want to try this.
check wires going TO coils: looking forward on bike, you should have on the LEFT COIL, a YELLOW wire with BLUE tracer and on the RIGH COIL you should have a BLUE wire with YELLOW tracer BOTH COILS have a BLACK with WHITE tracer.
LEFT coil controls cylinders 1 + 4 and RIGHT coil controls 2 + 3. you may find the leads ae the wrong way round on cylinders 1 + 4. might be worth a try.

Sweet man I will check that out tonight. I have the battery on a charger right now at work cuz the multimeter last night was ready 8.5v which is way low. So I will check the wires on the coil tonight and if I can pull the plugs to see first hand if they truly aren't or are sparking.
Thanks for you help man and nice looking bike!
