Default To paint or not to paint?

Ok, I know a guy that paints, and I know he'd give me a great deal on a custom paint job so I was just thinking about the possibilities.
I'm a huge UNC fan! I was thinking about getting my blade painted Carolina blue, then getting a few white NC logo's, and the darker blue NC logo's too, etc. I'm not 100% set on a final design but that's the basics right now. This wouldn't happen until sometime in the winter when I can't ride much anyway (probably January/February). He'd also fix a few scratches/cracks that are in the body now.
It would be a one of a kind bike, no matter what I go with, and I know I'd love it to death. The thing is, I have an original Blade paint scheme right now. I'm wondering if I should just keep what I have, maybe get it fixed up and looking better, or go all out and get the entire new paint job done on it.

Opinions/suggestions/comments? All are welcome, unless you're a Dook fan, lol

I have seen a dallas cowboys custom paint job that looked sweet, so I am sure if the guy is a quality painter a UNC paint job would look awesome, and your bike will mean more to you since its one a kind and people will know that. Just watch out for Duke fans knocking your bike over.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna go ahead and do it, as long as I can afford it and can come up with a nice design. Any ideas on that? I'm as far from a creative artist as you can probably get, lol

For me it would probably depend on what I'm starting with. If the body was pretty beat up and needed a bunch of work I'd probably go for it.
But with a nice stock bike, probably not.
That's just me, though. And maybe if it wasn't NC themed.....
But do what you like, man. Especially if your painter guy will do a good job for cheap.

Wink unless its wrecked, leave it be

first off brother ,thats an Erion Racing Edition 929 , not an eazy to come by bike, that bike carries a mistique all its own. Second , if you paint it a team color scheme, yool be married to it for a while and olny be able to sell it for cheap , or to another fan. Paint the pinto in the back yard all UNC colors, but leave the bike alone...JMO (but just so ya know , ive always wanted an Erion 929,so im a purist with this one)

Have you thought of getting some cheap body work and having that painted instead? By keeping your stock body work, if you were ever to sell, you could still get top dollar for your bike. As bambam said, that is an Erion bike. You will lose value big time with the UNC paint job. Just something to think about down the road.

As all have addressed in one wording or another,,,,It's strictly up to you as to whether you want to paint the bike if you ask 20 people 10 will say no, 5 will say maybe and 5 will go for it.
The only way I would consider painting was if there was some cosmetic damage or such as in your case just had an idea that I was truly stuck on and wouldn't get old to me.
So as you have found out,,, your answer to this question is clear as mud.

Hmmm, much to consider! I think now I'm leaning towards just getting the few nicks/scratches fixed then repainted the original color.

I do love the bike the way it is, and love the attention I get, even for a 14 year old bike. If it was in bad shape and needed a lot of repairs made, I'd probably just decide to go with the new color, but since it's still in good shape, I think I'll just keep it as is. Plus it'll be cheaper lol
