Default One for the head

I 've seen lately there has been some ?'s about why we like the 900rr so much. Wwll for starters the 900rr was produced for 6 years and dominated every thing in the open class how about the 929 rr and the 954rr well let me ask you this?If the 929 and 954 rr were such great bikes why were they taken out of production so quickly ? I do think that the 954 rr is superior tothe 900 rr in some ways (20 more H.P. That's about it!)but the 929rr to me with only 10 more H.P. is not any better than the original 900rr ! feel free to leave feedback I'm sure this will be contended!

Default RE: One for the head

The 900RR didnt have to face the R1 and the GSX-R 1000 either. The R1 came out in 98 and mopped up on the RR. I loved my RR, but theres no mistaken it was way down on power compared to the new shoes on the block. And the next problem came when it was no longer lighter than it's competition. The ZX-11, GSX- 1100, and the FZR 1000 were heavy pigs and only made a little more power, the R1 came out and weighed roughly the same but made more power, now the game was officially changed.

The RR started it all, that I agree with, but the reason the 929 and 954 didnt last was because of the stiff competition from Yamaha and Suzuki and now Kawasaki. From the 929 up to the last iteration of the 1000RR, Honda seemed to build bikes based on what they "COULD" do, and not build them with what they CAN do. They leave a little to be desired on the motor front in my opinion, but maybe that's why they are bullet proof too? Hard to say for sure.

I like the RR's I've ridden or owned (with the exception of the seat on the 954) and all were MORE than plentiful in the steam room, just down compared to others. They are all nice or fun in their own way.

I'm pretty sure the 954 was a step up on the 900RR in more than the motor room, it handled better from a turn in point but i didnt care for it's head shake issue (that a damper would have fixed) and the seat, otherwise it was certainly a better bike in my opinion, just in the way it handled and the composure of the suspension although the compression damping seemed a bit steep for my taste.
