Ok cool, thanks for that great input dinez74. I was under the impression that if it read 13v then it should be charging, but I guess the charging mode didnt kick in yet until +-4000rpm. I didnt know that about the regulated voltage, thanks man. Sorry MT if my info mislead you a little to think you baby was broken. At least it helped us to dig further and get quality info.

And another important fact is to run the bike regularly. This will make the battery to last even more longer. Taking the pressure from Spirit's back, I had my battery out too soon than supposed to be (last year) because of less running.
Since then I'll always try to run her at least 3 times a week if I manage to calm the wifey.

lol yeah, for about a year, my left fork looked l i k e a twitzel stick, but the motor was fine...I had no idea it didn't charge below 4k...I would just go out and start it, warm up the engine, then turn it off. After the second battery, I discovered what was happening. Now that I can actually ride her again...no more dead batteries.
