imo take it easy for the first 100-150 miles heating the tires up to normal operating temp to burn off the slippery coating on the tires. I've heard of some people spraying them with Brakleen, or Westleys Blech White tire cleaner. Personally never tried the last two.
What tires did you fix? Personally I didn't believe in this tire break in crap. I had changed a lot of tires and I just whacked them right from the start. The first coating will be rubbed away after a few roll, thats it.
Take it easy on them until you scrub them in. Gradually ad lean angle until they are scrubbed in as far as you lean over. If you ride 100 miles of free way and then throw it in a corner at full honk you will fall on your *** and get hurt because the tire will likely let go. It doesnt take a lot to break one in but do take care until you've scrubbed them in.

But, I dont recommend you guys doing that either.
Break in depends on the tire. I found that Metzeler tires had a little harder compound and took some time to break in. If you like to lean hard in to the corners take it easy for a little while because it’s like ICE. Break the side walls in slow.
As for Pirelli’s I had no problems at all. A quick 100 miles and go.
