new member, need rear suspension geometry info
I do not actually own a CBR, I have your CBR's grandfather. Yes early 80s CB-F. Actually have three of them.
What I do have is the swingarm, shock, and linkage assembly from a ‘97 CBR900RR. My plan is to graft that on to grandpa and build an old school hot rod. The swingarm has already been machined to fit the CB-F and am now ready to start fabing up my shock and linkage mounting points.
The front end by the way is from a 95 GSXR1100 usd forks.
Here is what I am looking for:
1) It appears to me that the ’96 and ’97 had the same suspension components and therefore I would guess same geometry. Can anybody confirm this?
2) I would really like to keep the same angular relationship between components as the Honda engineers originally designed. Does anybody that has one of these bikes live within a few hours drive of the Greenville, SC area?
I actually have paper dolls of the components that I would like to hold up against your bike so I can mark them with the proper angles. I will not have to remove or lay a wrench on your bike, just cardboard cutouts and a pencil. I am will to pay a little bit if needed or I can bring you a case of your favorite malted beverage. Any help appreciate.
Signed,
your grandfather

thanks, OLDSCHOOL, I will keep that in mind. Hopeing to find one a wee bit closer but may had to do a weekend at the beach. Oh darn.
So your an F'er, is that the source of the name? Have you visited CB1100F.net? It is purely dedicated to the CB Fs, just the Fs, not the customs or K models, just Fs. It is one of the friendlyest site I have EVER been a member of. We all have old bike and help to keep them on the road. Even to the points of members sending each other parts for free at times. Check it out.

It is a farely common build if look around cb1100f.net, most guys just try to get it close. Some closer than others. Some have not even worried about it and just used the the parts. I'm an engineer and somewhat **** and would like the start with what was designed in. I will be making adjustable links and shock mounting point so it can be tweaked but knowing the stock characterisitics is of some value in making adjustments once this setup in on my bike.
Wanna see some pretty cool builds, check out some of these guys bikes:
NorCalSuperF
stoutblock
Cooter
toddK
many others
I'm on there (almost to much, there may be an issue here) with the same screen name. Stop in and say hi,
I'll look for that link I may know the bike.
