Default Neutral and kick stand switch problem

Its like this,

I have a 97 900. The neutral signal stays on in first gear and the kick stand kill switch still allows the bike to crank when down.

Please advice if you have any remedies for this problem.

You can try cleaning the connection to the sensor or replace it all together. Think i got mine from cheapcycleparts.com for about $10. Its located behind the front sprocket cover.

You should be able to start the bike with the bike down as long as it's in neutral, but it should cut off once you throw it into gear. I cut mine off, spliced the 2 green (i think) wires together and haven't had a problem since, will always run, just make sure to put the kickstand up.
