Hey new to forum and need some help. Have a 98 900rr just got a wile ago, it has been running fine besides being rich, but today pulled the beast out and started it let it warm up and wile warming up it sputtered and died.... Started again but was basicly guzzlin started getting real choppy... when id throttle it up it would chug then throttle up.. i pulled the plugs cleaned them and started it again... needless to say the same thing!!! need ideas!!!! please help thanks!!!! mike

 

i would say take it for a ride to see if it needs to be blown out. mine is doing the same exact thing today but mine is not registered yet so i can't take it out for a blast. you could also try running a bottle of dry gas it may have built up some condensation in the tank while in storage.

 

mine did that to me. i just emptied gas and put fresh new gas 20 min ride.

 

Hey, see if there's gas in it before you have somebody tow it across the state.

 

How was the bike condition when you bought it? What is her pastmaintenance record?

I would suggest you do a throughservice routine; assuming the bike had not run for long and you really don't know the condition before this.

Change the plugs, Clean & sync the carbs, Clean or replace all the filters, change the engine oil, recharge the battery, clean the tank, check for any damagedfuel hose... list goes

It will be easier to start diagnose the problem once you know all the above had taken careoff. Don't worry she's HONDA.. she will pull through!

sounds like u ran out of gas while warming up try the reserv !!
