Take a buddy with a real cynical attitude that you trust, listen to his comments/opinion.
Don't fall in love to any of the three, the prices are good but there might be a reason.
Minor trim pieces are pretty easy/inexpensive to replace, look on e-bay to see what
that's gonna add to the individual bikes.
Best I can tell you, is look for mechanical condition. How are the tires? How much life
in the chain/sprockets? Are the teeth on sprockets sharp and symetrical or rounded?
How do the fork seals look, forks feel? Pump them up/down see if you see leaks.
Brakes feel firm? How much pad left? Look for oil/water signs, is the engine tight?
Start bike let it run for at least 5 min while you are looking it over. Does it
continue to run/idle well? It should NOT over-heat during this period. Brake lines in
good shape? No obvious cracks/weeping. Look at the BACK-side of the fairings.
Bondo, obvious repairs? Over-spray from a cosmetic fix-up? Does the wiring look
good? No home-brew splices/patch-work? Do all the lights/horn/guages work properly?
Get in the saddle, grab the front brakes and pump the front-end. Center the bars,
Have your buddy throw the eye-ball at the front end..is it straight?
If you are really serious, it doesn't hurt to get a compression check done on the engine as well. This will really seperate the bad apples out.
Ride the bike, does it shift smoothly? Acelerate with no stumble/hesitation?
How do the brakes feel? Smooth and firm, no grinding/grating sound/feel?
Take this list with you, if you get more than a few 'no's", walkk away from that bike.
If the present owner objects to ANY part of the inspection, walk away from the bike.
If he gets aggresive about all the other offers he has, pushes for a quick sell....
Walk away from the bike!
Hope these tips help, Ern

If 900rr never been lay down...48k is not a concern. It's a HONDA. But of course buying a used bike that has 48K does have it's risk but what can you really buy for 2k...choice is not much.
Save you money, keep saving up more bullets, and go hunting again few month later.
Unless you are mechanical incline so worst case scenario, you'll rebuilt or replace entire engine.
