Default my mess of a 900 rr

ok so i got my bike and havent really ridden it much. it had a few things wrong with it so today i started checking things out.

problems:
1. turn signals didnt work
2. brake light stayed on
3. high beam always sayed on
4. fan is connected to a switch to be turned on manually.
5. battery doesnt charge (new battery)

just seemed like a simple electrical problem and then i started looking into it.At first it was all wrapped up and looked organised and neatly done..... i found many cut, spliced, caped, and just a mess of tangled up wires wrapped in the electrical tape.

would it be worth my time to go through each wire and fix it or just get a new harness and what is an average price for a harness? also i crossed 2 wires and got a spark from the relay shown below....what s that relay for and could that be why the battery doesnt charge anymore?

Hey Neondriver!

Looks like you have a little work to do. Just a note not to forget that the voltage regulator may also have some issues.
Replacing the harness will give you the opportunity to identify other possible hidden problems.

Good luck, eh!

Hello I'm new on this forum.... my bike is having a charging problem also and I looked into a new stator ($370.00) and a new harness is $400.00 hope that helped on one of your questions.

a shot in the dark considering all the problems your having, but you may want to look at the switch for the rear brake. If it were out of adjustment, it would make the brake light stay on.

EBAY is your friend. You can find wiring harnesses for under $100, sometimes $50.

Stators as well. Just be sure your getting the right one.
