RE: my 93 motor noise
If it is piston slap, I can only give you info on piston slap that happens in Camaros and Covette engines, the LS1 engine.
It is a common problem for those engines but it is not necessarily a bad thing.
People say just wait for the engine to warm up and wait for it to go away. I've never heard of anyone getting engine damage or anything from it.

yeah, relax...it's the cam chain tensioner (lifter). Nothing will blow up, but try not to ride like a crazy person in the mean time. If you ever get tired of the noise, have it replaced or get the manual version from American Performance Engineering (APE). Look it into, it's only about fifty bucks and you could even do it yourself...probably

RE: my 93 motor noise
Hi, my first post and it is regarding same problem. I got SC28 -92
when engine is cold andunder loadit gives loud knocking noise between 2900-4000 rpm and it seems to be coming from the top of the engine, when bike is on neutral and revs, it sounds like new. After warming engine, knocking sound seems to be disappering.
If it is cam chain tensioner, i am happy. I have browsed throughdifferent forums regarding this and answers are same, chain tensioner or piston slap.
