motor questions
History: blewed up my chit... 98 900rr motor nuked with no oil in it..... long story.
Bought a 97 900rr (919cm) motor from ebay... noticed a few suttle differences upon install today.
No senor above tranny on bike = no spedo???
Coolant ran totally different.... got the figured out.
All else seems to be fine.
Please advise if anything else is totally different, oh I am using the 98 harness.

RE: motor questions
you can rewire the speedo from the sprocket cover sensor (if the engine you purchased came with it installed.) It requires a speedo healer because it gives a different reading in comparison to the crank sensor your original 98-99 919 engine came with. In addition, I think the 96-97 didn't have a TPS sensor like your carbs off the 98-99 919cc. If you use the 98-99 wireharness, you shouldn't have any other problems. The only problem that you may experience or not experience other then that (just a possibility) is that you may have to use the timing sprocket off your 99(call honda on this) I had an old cbr600f1 that I updated the 89 to a 90 and wouldn't start. Dropped it off at the dealer and they started it by switching the timing sprocket back to an 89(makes sense, since the CDI firing timing was set for the 89) Just something to look into after you install everything and if he engine seems to not start right or run right. Let me know the results for future reference. Good luck!

RE: motor questions
Thanks very much, I am using the 98 carbs with the 98 harness, so the TPS sensor will not be a problem. Where do I find a spedo healer?
I am waiting for a few more dollars to get some parts to make the motor run, it turns over and sounds good but I need a few more little parts.
Thanks for the help.
