I'm looking at it this weekend...
'96 900rr---19,xxx mi.
Slip-on (micron i think)
Pretty new Camo paint job...I'll be ditching THAT- although I COULD cut the lights and ride into a bush to hide from the fuzz
He want's 3,600...I was gonna go for 3,000-3,200 cash in hand and scoop it up...is 3,600 fair?
What should I look for, other than the usual...any model specific problems I should look for?
I've heard they had an oil leaking problem...
HERE'S THE LISTING...
1996 900rr great condition, runs awesome just serviced , fresh oil, new plugs, new front and rear brakes, bought bike from a friend who just got a new busa, i must sell this week something a lil more important came up and i dont ride it that much, purchased in march, i may have ridden it 7 times, bike has a custom camo paint job with some minor cracks in plastic, 98% chrome except the rims, bike has 19,xxx miles on it,and i have a clean title in hand, if bike does not sale i'll just make it a project over the fall and winter. leave message if intrested.
Thanks...I hope to be around more often soon!

I dont know how long ya been riden or how much you know about bikes but i didnt know anything when i purchased my 900RR about 2 years about..I got ripped off.
Make sure you ride it...I didnt mine needed new sprokets and fork seals....Just make sure you ride it...Make sure you let it set and run alittle but and worm up. let the fan kick on and see if everything works...thats the only advice i have to say...i think 3000 is fair to me...I dunno though...good luck

Yeah, sprocket/forks are on the usual list to check...
I've been riding for years and know enough...
I'm looking for model specific probs...elec. gremlins, motor probs., etc...things I won't be able to see or check...I heard they have an oil leaking prob., no?

Mine has never leaked a drop either.
Battery/rectifier/stators can be an issue with this bike. Is it the original battery, if replaced when. Original rectifier and stator. If replaced when and why. Take the seat off and look at the wiring to see if the rectifier has burnt out at any point. If everything looks fresh - fine. But if the connectors have been burnt they may be gremlins in your future. Rectifiers go bad all the time, and they are $50 -$100 depending on used, new, OEM, or aftermarkt. Stators are more expensive. $150-$250 for the same reasons. A bad rectifier can take out a stator if not corrected in a timley manor.
Chain and sproket wear is next. Are they the stock sprokets? Look for chipped teeth or curved teeth, like the crest of a wave.
Fork seals and rust in the tank.
If you ride it and your confident in the bike and your riding. Take you hands off the handle bars for a second or two and look for woble or head shake. That will show if anything is bent or if the head bearings are bad.
my 2 cents.

Here it is...
Not sure about the CAMO...I think it gonna have to go.
took it for a spin...all seems good.
Took my hands off at 35, straight and steady.
Everything else looks good, needs brakes though...
BTW...he says: "go ahead...get on it", I stab it in 2nd---BOOM, right up...I mean straight up!
I'm gonna show up w/ 3,000 this weekend and go in for the kill...I think.
If so...more pics to come...
