I know there are probably a hundred or so other posts about fuel additives. But I just wanna say that I put this in my tank to clean the fuel system and to lubricate a little more thru the gas. I just wanna say that I totally noticed a difference in the idle and start up of the bike......

 

This is the first time I have ever heard of it. I just checked out the website, and it sounds like any other Duralube or prolong advert. Hmmm, dunno...

 

I would have to see dyno numbers to really believe it helps, especially since it is actually diluting the fuel with less volatile lubricants. I swear my bike runs better right after I wash it, too . . .

 

Well I never said that it makes my bike faster nor did I say that it helps with HP.. SOOOOOOO why would you wanna see dyno numbers seeing as to how I said it affected my start up and idle.. Nothing about anything else....

 

Was just a phrase, maybe poorly chosen one. My point is that there is pretty much no independent collaboration that fuel and oil additives actually do anything, and if there is an effect it is probably psychological, kind of like the placebo effect. If somebody else put in the additive and you didn't know about it would you have noticed a difference? I think probably not.

 

Its both I guess, phycological and there is a bit of difference. The proven way to really see if the additives is worth is to record down your fuel consumption before and after. The additives should save fuel.

By the way MI900, I like the 'my bike run better after I wash it' hahaha I feel the same too.

 

I like SeaFoam

 

I have used Seafoam a couple times just because so many people swear by it, but not actually sure if it ever really makes a big difference. I try to ride year round and take my bike out in the winter anytime the roads are clear and dry; i think that helps a lot with keeping varnish and contaminates from settling in the carbs.

But Seafoam will literally melt paint. Last time i used it I had to take the tank off to do some maintenence and accidently spilled some of the fuel with Seafoam in it on the underside through the small breather vent. When I went to put the tank back on a couple hours later, the paint that had gotten fuel on it had disolved and came right of the steel. That part of the tank was spotless right down to bare metal, almost like it had been sandblasted.

On a side note, I'm looking for a replacement tank for a 93 if anyone has one they would like to sell. Needs to be straight and relatively smooth, but paint scheme doesn't matter.

 

This is interesting, I guess time will tell if it does in fact really work.

Yeah I have heard a lot about the Seafoam and have seen hundreds of vids on Youtube with people using Seafoam and sending out a ton of white smoke out of their exhausts. Havent tried it out myself...
