I got a stand like this for my 99 and the pin is a 13mm but is about a half to one inch short. It touches the bottom of the cowl right under the lights. Anybody know if they make longer ones or have any ideas? I can't weld. I was trying to think of ways to extend it. I thought about taking ur to a welding shop but it also has to be ground so it's nice and round to fit into the frame.

 

best bet is to modify a pin to fit correctly, ive had to do that for both stands that ive had that were like that. if you've got access to a lathe, or know someone that does, you can mill a piece of round stock to the correct OD then drill a hole in it so that it will fit over a smaller pin.

 

Can you not just return it via Amazon and get a different one the right size ... ?

 

It's the right size (diameter) which is 13mm which fits the hole in the triple tree perfect. It just needs to be longer by an inch cause arm of the stand rubs/pushes the bottom of the plastic cowl. They don't really make them longer from what I have seen. What about epoxy putty? If I form a little ball and attach it to the end of the pin and shape it? Just a matter of it adhering.

 

so i went to a welding shop and they said that it would be tough to get it straight and a machine shop is the best bet. So took it to a machine shop and they are going to make me one for $20. Anybody wants to see a pic, ill have it next week. This is what you deal with when you dont buy quality i guess (like pit bull?). I know i wasnt going to use it much so i just bought the generic stand

 

even the pin that i got with my pitbull stand, bought second hand, wasnt long enough for my f4i and i had to modify it. but $20 isnt bad, it'd cost you that, if not more, plus shipping for the "correct" one offline.
oh, and if you have the one that you posted a link to, that one is just as stable as the pitbull front stands. I had the same one and there was no real difference between the two. the real difference was with the el cheapo ebay rear stand and the pitbull rear. bike doesnt budge on the pitbull, even without spools.

 

I don't think there is a correct one. They are all the same length. Mine is just like the one in the link. Not sure the brand though. Got it long time ago. One of the reviewers for that says the angle of the arm makes it not work on their bike. Then they bought a pit bull and it was perfect. I'm Not sure how close they get to the newer bikes plastic. I know my bike is a "fatty" so.......a friend of mine calls it j-lo cause of the big tail
