Default Lightening

I was wondering what all can be done to lighten up the bike to allow for better accel and handling? Beside carbon fiber fairings. What have you all done and how much weight have you dropped? I searched but could not find anything.. My bike is a '95 900RR

Better accel - re-gear, -1 +2.
Handling - Set up the suspension for your weight. When was the last time the front end was re-built (oil, springs, bearings)? What tires are you running? Is this for street or strip?

Weight? I started going to the gym.

Sorry, I am new to "hotrodding" bikes, all my experience is in cars so I can probably handle the engine aspect of the bike but most other things are ?
On the regear -1 in the front and +2 rear?
The front end is freshly rebuilt.
How do I go about setting the suspension up for my weight which is at 180 right now, but Im bulking and trying to hit about 190-195lbs.
I just finished riding the bike for the first time and the suspension felt really good and tight and I felt VERY comfortable on it, so I don't think I will mess with the suspension right now.
The tires are Dunlop Sportmax D208 180/55/zr17 on the rear and Dunlop Sportmax D208F 130/70/zr16
I also have a D&D exhaust on it.

I just want it setup for a great street performer. This bike will probably never see the track.

Are there parts that can be taken from newer 900rr that are lighter and will mostly bolt on?

How much weight can be dropped by simply changing the stock plastics for fiberglass or carbon fiber? Anyone have any numbers? Is it worth it beside the looks?

Are you really wanting to stick w/ this bike? Because of the money that you would be spending on CF, wouldn't help out that much. If you really have that much cash laying around, check out aftermarket rims.

correct, -1 in the front, +2 in the rear.

On the suspension, I think an '06 CBR1k front end is a direct bolt in. This will also give you a better selection of front tires (17" front rim), and better brakes. You would need to get the triples, forks, wheels, brakes, clip-ons, bascially, the whole front end. But don't quote me on that. I would look more into it, I'm not for sure about the '95's front end compared to what I have, a '97.

Honestly Im really thinking of keeping cause I fit so well with it and REALLY like it. I am going to buy a busa this summer though so I guess all Im going to do to this one is put the 98-99 fairings on it and do the regear. I know that the 456lbs or whatever it is, is already pretty light. I was just curious if there was any interchangable parts that I could fine very cheap and drop some weight with them.

She only has 28000 miles on the clock and is very well maintained and original minus the D&D setup. Im not trying to lighten it because it has no get up. It has all the power it had when new plus some (not literaly, wear and tear diminish power slightly obviously)!

You can go with the carbon fiber, lighter rims, 520 chain set, new lighter full exhaust. Personally i don't think its going to make much impact compare to the money you are going to spend.
