I need help. 94 900rr subframe mod?
So I finished the grinding and it went much better than expected.
While on this site today though I discovered a DIY forum. So now that I have started taking pictures of this project I will begin a new thread to explain the process of fitting a 2001 929 tail on a 94 900rr. It looks effin sweet and if you can find the parts and have not yet converted your tail, I strongly suggest trying it out. I garuntee that you will not be diappointed.
I am gonna open a beer now have a shot of tequila and watch some baseball. That is somthing else I suggest everyone do. Have a good night to who ever is reading and has been reading this post. I will post more tomorrow or friday.

DMACK did you use the angle grinder to cut off the cross bars on top? I am def going to have to move and probably fabricate the front one. On the back I think that I will have two weld on 2 tabs for the mounting holes on the back of the 929 tail.
I used a dremel tool to cut the through the welds. You could use an angle grinder with a cut off wheel, you just need to be really careful and go slow. Just cut slightly above the level of the tubing. Then when it is removed you can slowly grind down to the tubing itself.
After finish sanding it, you would never know something had been welded there on mine.

DMACK have you been able to find anything on fitting a vfr800 SSSA on a 900 frame? I have read that the vfr800's mount to the engine, I kow that my current swing arm does not. I have also read that if you shave off equal amounts on each side of the frame and swing arm that you can make it fit. Do you know if that is true?
The reason I ask is that I have stumbled upon a SSSA for cheap money. As long as it does not take any major mods other than some machining than I will buy it. It it is going to require fabricating mounts to the engine then I won't.
I never realized how rare it is to come across a vfr swing arm.
I also know that a 750 vfr swing arm requires a lot less hassle. But like I said hassle is no big deal to me, I have plenty of time.
One last question, do you know anyone that has done a SSSA conversion on their bike?

Sime has done the 750 conversion. I think he also can answer the questions about the 800 as well. Yes it needs to have some shaved off the connection points, but there is also an issue regarding the shock mounting bung location.
I have been over to the rrzone where they have alot of info on this but it all boils down to the 750 swing arm. Do you know what the issue is with the shock mounting location? Or can you point me in the right direction? I can't find a single person that has sucessfully put a 800 SSSA on their bike and reported on the proccess. Thanks for all of you help. I will also go over to rrzone and ask Sime.
Thanks
Thanks
