i got a fuell delivery prob
ok so i was drivin along today at about 55 or 60 and it began feelling like it was runnin out of gas like normal so i switched it to reserve and it still died so i pulled over kinda confused so i checked the gas and it was still about 3/4 full of gas and it wouldent start so i had to trailer it home and the fuell pump will pump it if hotwire it but i dont remember when the fuell pump should come on if the ignition is on or if its turning over? also when i took the pump out all the lines were full of gas but i dont think it was movin from the pump to the carbs.
any help would be nice
sorry for the long post

How did you hotwire it? 'Hot' and 'wire' and 'fuel' in the same place kinda makes me nervous. When I turn the key to ignition, I can definitely hear the pump start, but I have yet to determine if that means it's actually pumping, or just priming itself. I would guess that it does not need to prime if there's already fuel in the line. Did you check the fuel strainer? Mayhap it is clogged, after years of dependable service.

So, you guys are saying you're making the system into a vacuum-fed (or gravity, rather) line with no pump? I know that 96-97(?) came without pumps, but I didn't think it was as simple as just removing it. How do you start the suction then, and what about the reserve tank?

RE: i got a fuell delivery prob
ive read forums saying that it works as long as there is enough gas so it is above the carbs so i am just keeping a gallon in the tanks and it runs like a champ. i took it from eglin afb fl to daphne al. and didnt have a prob. i think there is more power also but that im not sure.
