Default Fireblade loss of power HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

Hi everybody,my bike has lost its grunt!!!!! Put it in for a service, new plugs, oil.oil filter etc& bike was running great then i got an immobiliser fitted and thats when the problems started. When you put the bike into 1st gear and take off it pulls as if its in a higher gear. The bike even idles differently and just doesn't sound right. Is it possible the immobiliser is causing the power loss and if not what are the probable causes ;as the season is about to start and i don't want to be left behind. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Hi there scoosh, welcome to the forum.

What model/year of fireblade do you ride? That info will help.

Im not a fundi on electrics but I can fiddle my way around something.

Have you tested your charging system? Hook up a voltmeter/ohm meter to your bike with it off. The battery should read 12 volts, if its a little higher even better. After that start your bike and then rev it up to 5000rpm (easier to ask a buddy to hold the throttle), if your volts read between 11 and 10 then you have a stator problem. If it reads over 15 volts then you have a rectifier problem. If everything with the charging system is fine then it would most likely be a carb problem (pilot jets clogging will cause that bogging down in first gear).

I had that problem once, but what was my fault was that I was using the wrong fuel. I found out accidentally that the CBR900RR runs better on lower octane fuel. Using a higher octane fuel caused it to bog down as well in first gear, but it was ok at higher revs.

I hope this helps

What exactly is this imobilizer? I would pull it off and see if that fixes it first. If so they check the way it's hooked up and make sure it's correct.

Hi everyone, finally found the cause.Turns out that i'm only running on 3cylinders(no3 being the culprit).Bike is waiting to go back to garage to fix it(hopefully).Spark plug was "sooty" so its a possibility of a number of things,no spark, running rich, jet needs cleaned or carbs need balanced. If anyone has any other ideas please get in touch....cheers Scott(scoosh).

If its the case that your bike only starts running crap when its warm, then it could be your left side coil (left as when you sit on the bike), as that coil controls the #2 and #3 spark plugs. Plus together of what you said, the cylinder running too rich, that will soil that plug in two minutes. Perhaps check if the immobilizer is linked to the left hand coil as the #3 cylinder is the bikes primary cylinder and they might have skewed up the connection somewhere preventing the spark from firing.
