Clip on internal bits

Clip on internal bits
Does anyone know how to get all the internal bits of the clipons out. I want to get some bar end mirrors but all that stuff gets in the way. Is it even adviseable to get that stuff out or does it have some purpose other than holding the bar ends in. Basically I want hollow bars so I can put stuff in them if there's not a problem with getting all that stuff out. To illustrate here's what I'm talking about (circled in gray)

RE: Clip on internal bits
Well the bar is held in by two rubber bushings/grommets. I just recently took mine out to replace them and it was hell. When I did mine I used a drill through the little holes toward the outer edge of the bar to tear up the rubber. After I got the one wore out the rest came out with some hard pulling. Someone else probably has an easier way though cause I always end up doing things the hard way. But as far as what purpose they serve I have no clue. But if you are just changing bar ends and the internals are still good and not broke or cross threaded you can just put the new bar ends on the old weight.

The internals cut the vibration down, I'd probably leave them intact; maybe buy a set of new (or used) aftermarket ones that come hollow already. Could be pretty buzzy though. Wow, I just thought of how great a place that would be to hide stuff in there you wouldn't want the local gendarme to know about...not that I...well...you know...not anymore...
