Chain Opinions
Well its almost time to swap the chain and sprocketson my 97. I was just wanting to now what you guys recomend. Maybe some good experiences or bad. Also where to get a good deal on one maybe online or something. This is my first bike and it will be the first time I replace the chain and sprockets so I have had no experiences with any good or bad.

I would recomend a 520 conversion kit. Little faster acceleration (nothing crazy) and you drop maybe like 3 oz's in weight (lol I dont know exact) Thats just me, Ive always put 520's on my bike. I dont think they need the 530's or 25's. You can normally find complete kits on ebay and stuff but if you want to go a little higher end I would buy Vortex front and rear sprockets and an RX Gold Chain. Prolly run ya total maybe $200 (off the top of my head) Good luck with the mod and MAKE SURE YOU MEASURE TWICE CUT ONCE ON THE CHAIN) EXPENSIVE MISTAKE IF YOU GO TO SHORT!!!!!

I'd go to sumofallparts.net and order the 520 race convesion kit. They give you vortex sprockets, and a gold rk X ring chain for like 139.99. And if you select free shipping they send it out ups. It is hard to find things on the site but just click sportbike parts then type in 900rr to the search and it'll pull up all the available parts.

Yeah, a 520 chain is going to stretch faster than a 525 or 530 chain. Its because your putting more work load on a smaller piece of metal (So the torque affects the smaller chains more) With that being said, I would say its minimal unless you are freakin ripping the bike round corners and in the straights all day long. You may lose a half a season in time over the life span of the chain if you ride it real hard. Thats my guess. Good luck!
