Not direct swap:

1. have to press out steerer-tube from 954RR's lower fork-clamp and press in tube from 900RR

2. will loose speedo function as newer ones are electronic driven from VSS in transmission instead of mechanical cable from front wheel

This is part you need to press out of 900RR lower fork-clamp and press into 954RR's fork-clamp.

Is it possible to adapt by changing the bearings for one’s with different internal diameter?

Hm, not if the length of the shaft is different!

Need a big press - a professional job?

Ops, rambling again :-)

steerer tube is different diameters
head-tube on frame different diameters.

Not sure you'll be able to find smaller bearings that'll fit inside 900RR's head-tube and over larger 954RR's steerer-tube.

Hi, I've just fitted a.954 front end onto my 96 blade, it was a exact fit even the bearings fitted, no modifications whatever.
