Default cbr rebuild question

I'm rebuilding a 1995 cbr 900rr motor. I was putting on the cylinder head on and broke a bolt in the motor. I have another cylinder head so my question is can i reuse my gasket I never started the bike, but i did torgue the head down.

The bolts for the cylinder head someone told me they streech and might not torque down like they should. i dont think it would be a big deal too reuse these.

Thank you for your time

Not sure about the gasket being re-usable or not, gut says shoud be ok. Take that with the a grain of salt though.

I will say, any time you torque the head or any major component, use a torque wrench. In the bad old days, they cost a fortune Now you can buy a decent 'clicker' for $50 bucks. If you don't, you are risking warping a critical cover/component or breaking a bolt. That said... ease-outs are my friends, been down that road, too ;-)

i did have a torque wrench for the head bolts. my dumbass didnt use it for the cam holders.thats were i busted a bolt and tried the easy out, broke that off into the srew so now im really screwd. I did buy a used cylinder head off of ebay waiting on it now.

Im leaning towards trying the gasket as the bike was never fired up and the gasket was torgued down for about 20 hours on the motor(never heated up). Im going to try it. any thoughts out there.

I would try it- like you said, never heat cycled- you also said only 20 hours. does that mean you have taken the head back off? how does the gasket look? I'm also assuming it didn't remove any of the water gasket silicon?

Good luck! Been there a few times in my old girl!
