Hi! My name is Darius and I have about 2 and half years of riding experience and I want to get a sportbike! I currently ride a suzukigs500f and I for sure want a Honda cbr.
Money is right so I have 2 options either a 2006 Honda cbrf4i, or a 1998 Honda cbr900re
I'm not too crazy about the f4i, being that it has extended swing arm ans a dew dents here and there, but its fuel injected with 10k miles I guess decent condition..
But I really want this 1998 Honda cbr900ahass22k miles on it, great condition
Garage kept, valves tuned up, oil new tires carbs cleaned the whole 9 can anyone help me outi just don't want to make a mistake buying it if it dosent last long

 

Those are two different bikes. The F4i is a "sport touring" model. It will be very comfortable on long trips and do well in the canyons/track. The 900rr is a race inspired machine. It will do extremely well on the track and in the canyons while doing just ok on longer rides, but that's more about seating position not the machine.

I would choose the 900rr, as long as the price and condition are right, but that's me. What do you want from your bike?

I'm not into abused bikes with extended swingarms either. I would keep looking for a different F4i, if that's the way you choose to go.

 

I sat on both bikes, I Ilike the way the 900rr handles itself. I love the way the rr looks and feels,
I'm just hoping it would last a long time, being that its carburated. And the f4i is fuel injected because I do ride in the winter my heart and mind tells me I would love the 900rr
Just want to ask someone like you who knows what there talking about
To let me know if its a nice choice over f4i.

 

If you like the 900rr, get it. The carbs will be fine as long as you take care of them. Just dont let them sit for long periods of time while the fuel goes bad.

900rrs are rare. They don't come up for sale in decent shape too often. You can always find an F4i later, if you decide you want one.

900 all the way and not because I'm partial to them..
If it's just between these two current choices, I would grab the nine..
Don't get me wrong I've owned an f2 brand new and still love six hundreds, but my nine' s have always been just as much fun.. and very much like demon74 says: the nine hundred in clean shape is a rarity.. if you can get your hands on one you'll quickly become proud to have it and it's always a conversation starter and although is really getting up there in age, it's still a very fast and engineering that still remains in many modern sport bikes today.. on a final note, there's a guy in this forum who just wished his bike happy 250,000 miles.. a few months back.. with that said, no matter what.. BUY A HONDA!!!

The 9! It was my first choic i love the look I sat on it seems okay weight not TOO HEAVY around 427 dry? I'm 22 years old I work with more wise people, and they say go for it as well, soon to be a classic! I love the way old school bikes look!

 

Go for the 900RR.... Besides if you ride it I bet you will not ride anything smaller then a 900. I love my 95 900rr. Fast is a understatement for this 18 yr old beauty.
