Ok, so here it is. I've got on opertunity to trade in my 40k plus, well used, and deeply love 93 900rr (with a 98 918cc stuffed in there) for a well kept low milage 00 RC51. Will I regret this? Have I lost my mind? Or is this the right thing to do?

You are crazy.....for hesitating on this trade! 51's are sick, totally different game than our 4 cylinders. Wait to you feel the torque on that thing. Plus you got some high mileage on your ride.

I dunno man, gotta be honest.

The RC51 is heavier right? And it has a diff. type of motor I think.

And I heard comfortwise it's not the best. But you gotta go with what you feel is right.

 

Were I you, I would do the trade, then sell the RC. I bought one of those a few years ago because I was curious. It was fun to play with for about a week or so but I grew tired of it very quickly. It's mainly a personal preference but I just didn't like the V-twin. It's torquey and fun for a short time but it's just not avery smooth running engine. Plus, i found the bike to be pretty uncomfortable. It did handle great though. The one place where the engine really shined was in the twistys. You could just leave it in third gear and run the curves all day without having to shift at all. But still, do the trade, you may love the bike, if you do, great, if you don't, you can sell it for quite a bit more than you could sell your double R for and then go buy whatever you want.

 

Take the trade. While the 900's are great bikes, the RC's are awesome. If all else fails and you dont like the RC, you could easily sell it for prolly 5K. they hold their value amazingly. You should definately take the trade.
