99 900rr Tops out at 136 mph ?????
Runs like a scalded a$$ed ape and acts like it's hitting a limiter at 134-136 mph? 16/43 gearing, no stumbles or running issues and runs strong, tach says 8500-9000 rpm at this speed. What gives? Any suggestions?

Will it pull to redline in any other gear? I would guess not, or you would leave it in 5th gear and try it. Fuel filter clogged? ECU might be bad. Coils bad? I guess it depends if it will do it in any other gear (pull to redline) and if so, what gears start giving you problems.
There is certainly something wrong, either fuel or spark related somehow..........
Give us some more info please.

It will pull 10k in 5th. It's almost like OD on a underpowered car. Once it gets around 135 in 6th, it just loses pull. It runs great, pulls the front up good in 2nd, has to have a little help in 3rd. I am taking my GPS today and comparing the speed readings. It just runs too good for something like that to happen it seems.

It should be able to slap the rev limiter in 5th with not much problem, but you will be going much faster than 130mph. The stock gearing is more than sufficient to pull to redline in 5th gear. Check the fuel filter first. Check the petcock Those would be my first place to check......make sure the fuel is flowing correctly. It may flow fine at lower RPM or even higher rpm in the lower gears because there is less load on the motor to pull that..........check the fuel related stuff first. THEN move on to the electrical portion. You could try new plugs, but that likely wont fix it. It may be the coils or the computer.

Check the vacuum valves in the carbs too. Take the air box off, start it, and rev it up to 10k; all your slider valves should be open. If one isn't, there's your problem. At high speed, you're not getting enough fuel. I'm guessing fuel because you have no problem getting to 130, just getting over 130.

So do I and if I were you I would look into a speedo healer. It's good for about maybe......and that's a big maybe because I've never really paid attention.........120 in second.
A ZX-10R or 05+ R1 will JUST crack 100mph in first........but because of their close ratio gear box even that wont be knocking out 135 in 2nd.
Who cares? This guy should NOT have a problem rolling 135 in 4th-6th.
On my 900RR 145 was approaching the end of 4th gear -1 up front........
