The only time a ZX-7R was more capable than a GSX-R750 was in 1991 when the limited edition 'R' version of the ZX-7 came out. Since then, Suzuki has mopped the floor with Kawasaki in the three-quarter liter lunchroom.

The R version was only better on the track. It was a horrible street bike. And really, the GSX-R had grown to be a pig at that point.

Since 97 or so.....nothing can touch the 750. It really is in a class of it's own.

However......I have seen in person ONE R7 at a track day at BIR three years ago.........THAT will eat up a GSX-R 750. That thing was tight!!! And ***** fast. i dont know how many were made, but again, i've only ever seen one. Nice bike.

A little harsh, but not totally undeserved, for either. As far as aesthetic appeal, however, there's no contest.

And you're right, practically hand-made homologation special with an MSRP over 30k:

The R7 looks awesome. Hands down. However I haven't seen on the road here. Maybe thats the reason Yamahas can be able to design such a sharp and tight look in thier R1 these days. The only setback isthe rear is quite large compare to other present liter bikes. Just my 2 cents.

No doubt....for the day the ZX was hands down sexier to look at. Even today, they are nice to look at. They look big because they are, but still some nice curves.
The R7 sure is sexy to look at. Too bad it's impossible to find and not worth the asking price to actually ride it. I'm sure it'll be worth a small fortune some day.......but who wants to look at their bike when they can ride it? With only 500 made, they are going to be rare. Makes a Ducati look affordable.
