If you already bypass the fan switch (sensor locate on the bottom left side of radi) meaning when you turn on you ignition key, the fan turns on...think about it...is it's cold, engine running too cool...and your battery/stator will be burden with load driving the fan...when riding, I want to hear my engine revving ...not the fun continuously running.

Though it may not seem bad...but it's not the right thing to do on your bike, it's not like you are saving $$$ tons...by bypassing.....

Most likely, the ground wire you have now going to the frame is actually your trigger wire that was suppose to go to the fan switch. The switch plugs into the radi, and once heat build up to certain degree, it triggers ground...thus your fan going on. Someone must have taken that wire and ground it to frame, so when you turn on your ignition, fan goes on.

see this link's #16 is the fan switch. Cost is higher if you buy it here, you can source ebay for cheaper one. There's some places sell them for $22-30.

OEM Parts

I can see why some people may get mix up since they do call the fan switch/thermostat.

But the true thermostate is this one:

OEM Parts

once pressure build up to certain psi, the thermostat opens and lets cool coolant in, thus the radiator cap works the same by letting hot coolant return from the block to the radi.
