93 cbr900rr help
This is my first post so and I hope you guys can help me out. I am working on a friends 93 900rr. The problem is the temperature gauge is blinking 270. I think the guy before him changed the gauge cluster because I dont think the 93 had a digital odometer and temp. anyway, I checked the thermostat and the temp sensor and they seem to be ok. The speedometer is not working either. The tach and the odometer are working. I cant find the speed sensor and there is a harness that is not hooked up to anything. When I ground out the wire to the temp sensor I get all different readings. Any help would be much appreciated thanks.....

RE: 93 cbr900rr help
The wiring harnesses aren't compatible from the later models and the early models. If you have a later model gauge cluster and the 1993 wiring harness I don't think you can hook them together.
As for the Speed sensor; the 1993 was a mechanical speedo that had a cable attached to the front hub.

You should use the search feature. It does prove helpful at times. I started a thread a couple weeks ago about putting a digital speedo on my 94 900rr which also has the mechanical front wheel reader. In order to fix you have 2 options, you can ditch the speedo and find an original one (92-95) that reads the speed from the front wheel or you can use the digital one you got and replace the temp sender on your bike with a newer temp sender (i think theyre different), the temp sender that was on the bike with the digital speedo, and youll also have to have the speedo reader off of the engine from the bike that had the digital speedo. So all in all, the old ones read from the front, the newer ones read from the engine, and neither temp senders are compatible from what i understand.
