[sm=icon_quiet.gif]Oh stop it now Duke......
R1's are no joke. They are the real deal and fast as hell! But.....it's all relative.....my 900RR was not joke either. Coming from my 600 Hurricane it was a monster.......I was pretty sure it was impossible to keep the front wheel on the ground the first couple days. Then I rode my brothers GSX-R 1000 and it too put my speed sensors on overload........now it's just another day at the park riding a 1000cc man eater. My friend has two 02 R1's........street/track and man......they are nothing to scoff at. ****, any liter bike in the last 10-15 years is pretty damn fast when it's tail is twisted.
Remember the ZX-11 when it first hit? Those were the days.............................................. ...............
+1.......if your 900 is even in the same zip code as an 04 R1.....I would be happy!

RE: 93 900rr vs. 04 r1
The third generation R1 is nothing like the previous models. With the first 2 r1's '98-01 and 02-03 you had to be very easy if you wanted to keep the front wheel down even when doingtypical commuter style riding. The '04 up r1's are dogs in the lower end compared to their predecessors. All of their power comes on at around 8000rpm. I'm sure this works out well on the track but it really makes for a pretty boring street bike.
