Default 900 on ebay

I noticed this bike on ebay...link...

The mileage is low, price is high and bike IMO is ugly.

The guy states that it is "one of a kind" because it's a 97 and the guy that owned it before him put the 98-99 tail because the 97 has "an ugly rear." The first thing I noticed is how it has a 93-95 lower belly fairing on it. IMO if your upgrading plastics to stuff and trying to make things better would you upgrade to a older bikes plastics? IMO I don't like the holes in that belly fairing which is just my opinion, to me it dates the bike. Lastly if you cared at all how the bike looks why would you paint it the way they painted it? Apparently the guy that owned it before him was rich and could do whatever he wanted...but couldn't afford a proper paint job on the bike...

My call on it was that it was trashed and the dude put together with what he could find. My guess is the 10k miles are from a different bikes speedo too...

What's your take on it?

i agree, but sadly a lot of people do fall for that crap. just means that it pays to do a little research into a big purchase like that.

I highly doubt that the bikeonly 10,XXX miles.

Likely itwas wrecked and repaired, too.

I know this one has ended, but I saw this one the other day and was amazed at the condition and mileage on this bike.

Yeah, nobody buys that bike and puts older fairings with newer fairings with that paint job unless it was wrecked.

Scutfargas-That bike was awesome! I remember seeing that one! I assume it didn't meet the reserve and didn't sell? That would be a nice bike for a collection.

quil900, I agree with you completely that it was probably wrecked. For the '93 on eBay, he was asking $5000 for it and that is what he got. Seemslike a good dealfor one in that condition.

That guy must have been hard up...although perhaps the other guys are just wanting way too much. I sold mine in 2006 for $3000 but could have gotten a little bit more (sold in fall so riding season was over.)
